Events

Events The Springfield Project

We run free community events that bring families together for play, creativity and shared experiences. Some events are big celebration days, and others are simple “come and play” sessions where we model fun activities families can do at home too and many without a cost.

Keep an eye on this page for upcoming dates or contact us if you’d like to be added to our updates list.

Events The Springfield Project

Growing Up Green Festival (June)

A joyful outdoor festival celebrating nature, play and creativity. Families can enjoy hands-on activities, arts and crafts, outdoor play and simple ways to connect with the natural world. The festival encourages children to explore, care for green spaces and feel proud of their local environment.

Picnic in the Park (August – to celebrate National Play Day)

A relaxed, family-friendly event in Sparkhill Park where children and families can come together to play, take part in activities and enjoy time outdoors. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic, join in with games and creative activities, and enjoy a shared community experience in a local green space.

Festival of Sparkhill (October half-term)

A community celebration showcasing all that is great about Sparkhill through children’s eyes. The festival brings together performances, exhibitions, creative activities and storytelling inspired by local history, culture and everyday life. It celebrates children’s voices, creativity and pride in their neighbourhood.

Light Up the Night (October half-term)

A magical autumn evening event bringing families together as the nights draw in. Children can take part in creative light-based activities, crafts and performances, helping to transform local spaces into something special and memorable. The event promotes togetherness, safety and joy in the darker months.

Creative Families Festival (October half-term)
Our annual arts festival for children aged 0 – 11 and their families. Expect performances, workshops, messy making, music and lots of joyful play.

Did you know❓ Our Making it REAL is a programme th Did you know❓ Our Making it REAL is a programme that works with families in the home and events to support Raising Early Achievement in Literacy. 🌟

Focussing on the Four Strands of Literacy. A Low Cost/No Cost approach, whilst being fun, engaging and accessible to enhance communication, language and early literacy development.

Last week, we visited the park and looked at environment print. The children had a fantastic time walking to the park ! They were happy to spot along the way environmental print and pointing out signs, labels, and logos garages, cars, park gates, slides etc with so much excitement

Children needed limited support while they were exploring with different equipment in the park. They had smile on their face and enjoyed being in sun. Home learning resources given to mother to carry on activities at home with her children. Mother was happy to receive them and walling to carry on these activities at home.
Visited the Park gives children new thing to explore and happily tried on how they wanted to explore themselves.

We had the best time. The children were buzzing with excitement! 🤩

Children were given opportunities to try the hands-on exhibits and discover the science behind touch, sound and movement.
Children walked to/from the bus stop to/from The ThinkTank.
Children were learning about road safety and waiting for the "Green Man" to help cross the road.
For some families it was their first time travelling on a bus.
We love watching our little ones grow in confidence, skills, and joy! 💛✨
