Winter water safety advice

20th December 2022

Following the tragic incident at Babbs Mill Lake, Solihull, Please see some helpful advice and guidance on winter water safety from West Midlands Fire Service.
WMFS – Winter Water Safety

The Royal Life Saving Society UK has produced some helpful guidance on keeping children and families safe around water when the weather turns chilly and new dangers appear, including a free downloadable Winter Safety Activity Booklet.
RLSS – Winter Water Safety

Please keep yourselves and your loved ones safe around open water, especially during the forecasted freezing weather over the festive period. Temperatures are expected to remain low over the coming days and we would urge people to be very careful when walking or cycling near waterways. Do not go onto the ice even if it looks safe as it can weaken very easily. If you see anyone in trouble, please call 999 immediately.

Take a look back at the wonderful time we had on 6 June. A huge thank you to everyone who made the event possible—from our funders and facilitators to all of our visitors. Your support and enthusiasm helped make it a fantastic day.

Here's to another year of being green! 🌱💚

The children enjoyed the roll-on paints and had a go at feeling the texture of our homemade "edible mud" (made with cocoa powder and corn flour).

We also explored the different shapes and textures of various fruits and vegetables and even caught up with Fay Five a Day during snack time. 🫐🥝🥑🍊🍉⏹️🔵

At our School Readiness Stay and Play session, we celebrated Father’s Day with a fun-filled Daddy’s Day alongside Sammy skills.

Families enjoyed taking part in physical activities, games, and movement-based play while also exploring healthy tomatoes, cheese, and crackers with the Fay Five a Day. 🍎🍌🍓

These activities encouraged families to spend quality time together, stay active, and learn about making healthy lifestyle choices through play and learning.
