Place of Welcome

About Place of Welcome
“Place of Welcome” is the flagship of our Community Services. Typically attended by 40 people each week, it is a much valued resource in the Sparkhill community for local people to come together for friendship, food and social activities including cooking, knitting, crochet, board games and pool.

Place of Welcome The Springfield Project

Place of Welcome is held every Thursday during term time, 1-3pm at The Springfield Centre, Springfield Road, Moseley, Birmingham, B13 9NY.

We look forward to seeing you for free hot food and drinks, and friendly conversation. All welcome!

We are currently offering a free housing advice drop-in service at the Place of Welcome provided by Central England Law Centre. CELC uses its knowledge and legal expertise in social welfare law to protect the rights of those in need. Contact us on 0121 777 2722 or email [email protected] with any questions.

The cooking group meets each Thursday at 12pm to prepare and cook the hot meal together. If you would like to join this friendly group, then come to the Springfield Centre at 12pm. Ingredients are provided and no experience is necessary. We welcome your ideas for recipes to try – we have enjoyed inspiring meals from all over the world.

We are proud to be a part of the national Warm Welcome scheme. We want to ensure everyone in Sparkhill has an open invitation to a warm and welcoming space so they can connect with others, get the support they need and feel part of their local community.

Take a look back at the wonderful time we had on 6 June. A huge thank you to everyone who made the event possible—from our funders and facilitators to all of our visitors. Your support and enthusiasm helped make it a fantastic day.

Here's to another year of being green! 🌱💚

The children enjoyed the roll-on paints and had a go at feeling the texture of our homemade "edible mud" (made with cocoa powder and corn flour).

We also explored the different shapes and textures of various fruits and vegetables and even caught up with Fay Five a Day during snack time. 🫐🥝🥑🍊🍉⏹️🔵
