Announcing the Festival of Sparkhill! The Springfield Project

The Festival of Sparkhill is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. It is the culmination of a year-long programme of community heritage activities called “Sparkhill, A Child’s Eye View”. Thanks to National Lottery players, we are celebrating the many experiences of childhood in Sparkhill through history!

Announcing the Festival of Sparkhill! The Springfield Project

The National Lottery Heritage Fund is the largest funder for the UK’s heritage. Using money raised by National Lottery players we support projects that connect people and communities to heritage. Our vision is for heritage to be valued, cared for and sustained for everyone, now and in the future. From historic buildings, our industrial legacy and the natural environment, to collections, traditions, stories and more. Heritage can be anything from the past that people value and want to pass on to future generations. We believe in the power of heritage to ignite the imagination, offer joy and inspiration, and to build pride in place and connection to the past.

At Mini Springers Nursery, we're excited to be building stronger partnerships with our parents. This week, we hosted two parent workshops. The first supported parents on topics such as dummies, bottles, routines, and oral health.

The second focused on the important role the nursery plays and how we can team up with parents to give children the best support possible.

We also hosted our very first Wellbeing Club—a warm and welcoming space where parents gathered to socialise, unwind, enjoy some colouring, and try their hand at crochet!

Our Little Bud children have been exploring the story - The Very Hungry Caterpillar, By Eric Carle.

The children get to explore different sensory experiences, allowing them to dive into their learning in a fun and hands-on way! 🐛🦋

At our School Readiness Stay and Play session last At our School Readiness Stay and Play session last week, during National Parks Week, we raised awareness of the importance of exploring and enjoying Britain’s natural environments. 🌲🌱🌴🪴

We took our families and children to our local park 🏞️, encouraging everyone to get active outdoors. Through Active Azra, families were supported to walk together and “keep their belly buttons moving” while exploring their local area.

We also promoted healthy habits by bringing along water and veg snacks for the journey, reminding families to keep snacks simple with a maximum of two snacks during longer walks, which were cucumber and Carrot sticks with Hummus.
It was a lovely opportunity for families to enjoy nature, stay active, and build positive routines around physical activity and healthy eating.
