After School Clubs

One of the goals of the Child Friendly Neighbourhood is to improve the quality of childhood experiences and increase the range of activities available for children to engage in. Our after school clubs are all free and offer children the opportunity to take part in a new activity, make friends, build confidence and inform what we do in future projects here at The Springfield Project. All of our afterschool clubs are chosen based on what children tell us they want. Our clubs have included:

After School Clubs The Springfield ProjectArt Club (currently running)

Art Club will begin running on the 23  September 2024 from 4-6, term time only. Art Club is a process driven space for art play. It facilitates children’s curiosity, imagination and creativity surrounding art and textiles, whilst improving their social development. It is open to children age 7-11. Please call us on 0121 777 2722 if your child is interested, but please be aware that spaces are limited to 16 children and your child may be put on a waiting list.

Photography Club (not currently running)

Photography club is an occasional afterschool club for primary age children in the local area and provides them the opportunity to work with a professional photographer to capture images of Sparkhill. The photos from past participants are now displayed in the Springfield Centre. This was a unique way for children to express the experiences and perceptions of Sparkhill from a child’s perspective, and will hopefully run again in future.

Music Explorers (not currently running)

Music Explorers was an 8-week afterschool programme in which children participated in Spring term of 2023. They received ukeleles, had music lessons and explored world music over the course of the 8 weeks.
