Announcing the Festival of Sparkhill!

We are thrilled to announce The Festival of Sparkhill, an opportunity to celebrate all things Sparkhill; past, present and future. The festival takes place between Saturday 25 October and Saturday 1 November 2025, at the Springfield Centre, Springfield Road, Birmingham B13 9NY, with some activities taking place in Sparkhill Park and Sparkhill Pool and Fitness Centre.

Each day will have a different theme to explore, with art workshops, music, lantern-making, local history talks, a panel talk and much more.

A taste of what you can expect:

  • An exhibition, showcasing some of the art created by local children and young people
  • Textiles and Art workshops, led by local artists
  • Local History walks and tours, led by experienced heritage practitioners and young people
  • Music workshops and performances
  • Drama activities that take you back and forward in time
  • Outdoor activities, including biking fun and shadow puppetry in the park

Announcing the Festival of Sparkhill! The Springfield Project

The Festival of Sparkhill is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. It is the culmination of a year-long programme of community heritage activities called “Sparkhill, A Child’s Eye View”. Thanks to National Lottery players, we are celebrating the many experiences of childhood in Sparkhill through history!

Announcing the Festival of Sparkhill! The Springfield Project

The National Lottery Heritage Fund is the largest funder for the UK’s heritage. Using money raised by National Lottery players we support projects that connect people and communities to heritage. Our vision is for heritage to be valued, cared for and sustained for everyone, now and in the future. From historic buildings, our industrial legacy and the natural environment, to collections, traditions, stories and more. Heritage can be anything from the past that people value and want to pass on to future generations. We believe in the power of heritage to ignite the imagination, offer joy and inspiration, and to build pride in place and connection to the past.
